Purple Noon (1960)

“So you kill me and you’re rich?”

Philippe Greenleaf, Purple Noon

Tom Ripley goes to Europe to bring his friend, Philippe, back to USA as per his father’s orders. However, after witnessing his lavish playboy lifestyle, Tom becomes obsessed with Philippe’s life and ultimately kills him to assume his identity.

What did I like?

Alain Delon, who plays the character of Tom, is effortlessly beautiful in this movie. His calm demeanour throughout the movie magnifies the viciousness of his character. The way Tom forges Philippe’s identity is very interesting.

I absolutely loved this scene starring Alain Delon from the movie.

Fun Fact- This French movie is the inspiration behind the American film The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999) starring Matt Damon, Jude Law and Gwyneth Paltrow.

Conclusion?

The last scene will blow your mind.
